Human Rights Education

My work on critical HRE deals with problem formulations thriving in the interdisciplinary field of human rights studies by drawing from sociology, childhood studies, law, and international relations history.

I use non-ideal theoretical analysis, childism and counter narratives in furthering notions of social justice and democratic praxis in education as a relational process. I pay particular attention to age-based discrimination, epistemic injustice, and intersectional inequalities that complicate justice-oriented ambitions in human rights education.

Revisiting the past: human rights education and epistemic justice

Human rights education often tells the history of human rights as if Western actors alone shaped it. This article recovers the contributions of Indian, Pakistani and Latin American feminists at the UN after the Second World War, in support of a more pluralistic understanding of universal rights.
